holding on to a schedule

Postby chigurh on Fri Jan 23, 2009 8:52 pm

Hey guys!

I'd like to workout some more too. I currently get my exercise form playing soccer, but that's basically just my stamina and lower body muscles that are maintained/improved.

I did Physical education in secundary school, so I can make a schedule for my own. I have a bench, dumbbels, everything I need. I'd like to gain some muscular volume, but I'm so fucking lazy :D

I have these days when I just start with a schedule and I'm really motivated, and then the next day I'm lying in the couch watching TV, thinking: ah, why bother? I'll just watch The Simpsons 8)

So my question is: how do you guys keep following your schedule? It's not just that I'm lazy, but I also think it's really dull to work out. I've tried using music and it helps me to hold on to a certain pace, but it's not getting me out of my buzz when I'm chilling and not in the mood to work out.

I've also tried to go swimming regularly, because it's the best body workout you can imagine. Perfect muscular balance, great stamina, getting some volume around your chest (lungs expanding), ... But that's even more dull!

I know a journal might be a good way to keep going. Anyone else who has pointers or advice? Like e.g. hanging pictures on the wall of your goal or some HB's for motivation, ... ?

Well I used* to lift weights in High School for sports. But I should definitely start hitting up the weights again. I mountain bike, and run. So my stamina is also good.

I guess my advice would be to start small, and work your way up.

For example when I started running, or mountain biking I didn't try my hardest and then take the next couple of days off. Its all about progressive conditioning. Do something so that it is easy, so you don't dread it when it comes around. Then work your way up.

You can't go strait from a book and be the master of pick up. It takes time, your have to start where you are. Where ever that may be.

So hope I didn't go into too far of a tangent, o yeah! Get a partner who is also motivated to list weights.
