hello from belgium

Where are you from? What got you interested in all this pickup stuff?

hello from belgium

Postby michy151 on Sun Mar 29, 2009 6:52 pm

Hi
I'm michael from belgium..
I'm 18 years old now. (almost 19)

I've been watching these interviews on "the mens room" and basicly.. when I was watching them.. at first I was like WTF?.. but then it all started to make sence..
so i'm gonna try to take the whole 'picking up' scene alot more seriously.
I'm a rather shy guy.. I mean like.. i had some pick ups and some GF..
but when it comes to random girls.. I still suck.

it's something I really want to get good at. But after watching the video's. somehow i feel much more confident now. because i really believe that this could work.

So i'm gonna be posting my progress here from now on. and i hope to get some respons of the things i post here.

I do have one question tough. It could be in my mind. But i've got a feeling that the woman/girls here in belgium are alot more 'closed' than the woman in like the USA or canade. Here they aren't really used on getting hit i think. Especially not during day time. So i don't know if that's like a good thing or a bad.

( A pic of me going out. Peacocking enough? ^^ )

Hey! and welcome. To me though it sounds like what you perceive as a problem is a good thing for you cause that means you'll stand out from other guys.

I was reading something this morning on Scandinavian women and the differences between hitting on one of them and a girl from America or another part of Europe. Some of the differences were: a) Fashion sense is a must, more judgemental on what you're wearing. b) They are much more open about their sexuality, more likely to get a one-night stand, c) They tend to take "NEG's" more seriously, for example you could say something to an American girl and they would know that you are taking the piss but a Scandinavian girl would take it to her heart and be insulted.

Although Belgium isn't a part of the Scandinavian countries (I wouldn't think so, my geography isn't the best however) there are likely differences between the cultures. Having never been to Belgium however, I couldn't tell you what they are. The same basic principles still apply either way.

yea I see.
Well about the fashion sence. That's deffinitly true.
Girls here really look at what brands you're wearing.
Somehow that has always been against my prinicpals..
why wear a pants of 200€ with a litlle name of some designer dude on it. if you can wear practicly the same 20€ pants without that name.
but anyhow.. I guess i'll have to change my life a bit ^^

There's some things I won't compromise on and that's one of them.

I don't mind changin my style or look but I'm not goin out me way to buy designer clothes when I can more or less the same clothes elsewhere. It's more the principle than the price tbh. If I genuinely like the work of one specific designer then awesome, but most people just buy the brand for the status that comes with it.

To me, that's no more than tryin to get the big fast car to get the girl to sleep with you, yknow. We're here cos we know there's a better way

I think making stero types of girls depending on where they are from is wrong.

Most of the stuff that is out there comes from the idea of evolution. so brand names will matter a bit. but there are other ways of creating attraction. Just looking stylish is good enough for the majority of non gold diggers.

The neg thing, it depends on how you say it. My opinion on different girls from diffferent countries, it that girls love to flirt and be teased. As long as you give off the vibe that you are teasing and vibing, check top gun and tom cruise for prime example of the vibe. If you dont have that then you come off as jerk and rude. Look at Mystery on his show, when he tells negs, its in a playful manner. Its all about the non verbals.

I would think belgium would be more like france and Holland.

On gold diggers, if you are an atttractive guy and got game, you could probably get to sleep with her, maybe have short relationship, but in the end, she will take a guy with money to have LTR. But in that LTR, she will cheat on him with a guy with game - but never leave her rich sugar daddy. The gold diggers will keep it secret. Cause all women have needs, gold diggers just get them from more than one person.

Yea I see.
Well anyhow i'm not quite on the stop of saying hi to girls i don't know yet.
I've only just started so i'm still in the beginner phase..
When i ever reach to the phase of talking to strangers i'll just try to be me. but with confidence and without really changing much of my personality. Just gonna try to do my best :)

It wasn't meant to come off as a stereotype (as in all Scandinavian girls think xxxx), more as a generalisation between the different cultures. Obviously no two girls are going to be the same anyway, but the subtle nuances between hitting on girls in an American bar/club and a European bar/club are there (ironic coming from me seeing that I haven't been to either :p, just going from what I read).

I don't think you need the expensive clothes to look stylish. If you know what works for you than you can be just as "stylish" as the rich guy with designer clothes, or at least as close to him as possible that the difference wouldn't really matter.

Neg thing: What this guy was saying is that in general the Scandinavian women didn't realise the signs that a guy was just taking the piss as well as American women, culture sort of thing I guess.
